About Us
Meet the BAKER
My name is Ile (pronounced ee-lay). I was born and raised in Waukesha, WI and still live here with my husband Luis, and our two beautiful kids. I attended South High School and graduated from UW- Milwaukee with a BA in Political Science. I graduated wanting to pursue a career as an attorney, but was never passionate about it. I've always enjoyed baking but didn't start pursuing it professionally until 2021.
I am simply a working mom who turned her hobby into a side hustle. I don't have any professional culinary training, I am all self- taught.
My goal is to turn Make it Batter into my full time career in the near future. I came a step closer to achieving this by partnering with a local, Latina, women-owned and operated coffee shop, Catrina Cafe, which was located in downtown Waukesha.
I provide a variety of desserts, such as Churro and Mocha Tres-Leches Cupcakes and delicious and velvety Flan.
What is your favorite baking secret?
One secret that is not so secret is to avoid overmixing. You'd be surprised how dry a cake can get by overmixing!
What is one thing every baker should have?
Every baker should have a good spatula and whisk. You don't need a fancy expensive stand mixer to achieve a delicious dessert. A little arm muscle goes a long way.
Which cake of yours would you recommend to a stranger?
This is tough! My personal favorite is my Chocolate Raspberry! The chocolate cake is so moist, filled with a semi-tart homemade raspberry filling, typically topped with fresh berries, and will make your mouth water. Another favorite is Carrot Cake. Not enough people give it credit, maybe due to having a vegetable? All I know is that everyone needs their daily serving of vegetables, am I right?
what can you expect from make it batter?
-Professionalism
I will always be courteous, respectful and listen to any questions or concerns you may have.-Flexibility
Need to change your pick up time? Want to make a minor decoration change? I get it! I am a mom and things come up that we don't always plan for. Count on me to try to accommodate anything that may come up before your order is complete. -Dedication
Remember I am not a professional trained baker or decorator, I am self-taught, and part of that is learning something new with each order. With that being said, count on me researching and planning on how to make your order supersede your expectations in order to make your special event smooth sailing. -Transparency
I believe in full transparency, I will give you all the information you may need to make sure you order what you truly want. I understand you have many options when it comes to ordering a cake and I will not be hurt if you choose to go another route due to price or any other reason.
